Day 3
We had a date set for McDonald’s already but still sent many messages on KIK throughout the day. Small talk, quick messages here and there. He was a bit newer to the area and had driven very far out the way and I wanted to call him but realized we had never exchanged phone numbers so I sent mine. And he called and something very calm came across when he responded to my hello.
He eventually made it and we enjoyed about four hours of each other. At McDonald’s. I didn’t want to leave because it meant he was going back to his home and I was going back to mine. My mind started to mess with me because we should have been getting into one car and going back to our house, as a family. Stop, stop, stop….You are reading way more into this than you should. Back to life, girl….it’s just a second date.
And then he sent a message that he’d had a great time with me and my girls. I was having doubts. Not about how much I liked this guy but how and why would he possibly like me. Recently, I’d been told I wasn’t a great catch since I didn’t have my life together. I’d been told that some of the things I wanted in a guy were ridiculous and maybe I should re-evaluate what I thought was good for me. This seemingly successful guy, who was intelligent and kind, liked me? But all this baggage. All my past problems and mistakes and issues…and then he sent a message that filled me with happiness.

I told him I was going to keep him and let him know that if he never gave up on me, I would never give up on him.
And he told me that he refused to get married in front of Elvis or some guy dressed at Gandolf…
I asked if it was bad that I wanted to see him again the next day and he asked if it was bad that he wasn’t sure he wanted to go a day without seeing my beautiful smile.
I’m pretty sure we had both already decided where this was going but it was only Day 3…so we both kept telling ourselves we were crazy for thinking whatever we were thinking….We did exchange last names that evening….but I didn’t have the desire to Google him…it didn’t really matter what I would find….his job, which required some higher level security clearances, gave me a sense of safety that he wasn’t crazy and well, for some reason, he believed in me.
